Category: Item Write ups
Article length: 300 – 1000 words
An item write up is the main entry for a popular culture item at Mashhur.com. Currently, the editors have a list of topics to write on, and also have raw material and information for most of them. If you would like to write about the popularity of an item, please contact support@mashhur.com and continue correspondence from there.
Category: The Way it was
Article length: 300 – 1000 words
This category of articles is an extension of the item write ups. If you feel that there are things missing from the main item write ups, and you would like to add to them, you can submit an article for ‘The Way it was’ category. This type of article has to be written in the third person.
Category: Memoir
Article Length: 300 – 1000 words
A memoir about an item is written from a personal perspective. Where as ‘The Way it was’ section is about things one sees and experiences in the general society, a Memoir is about what the individual him/herself experiences, feels, thinks, believes etc. Memoirs have to written in the first person.
Category: The Tens
Article Length: 300 – 1000 words
These are top ten listings with brief write ups e.g. 10 most popular songs, 10 most popular Cricket matches in the 80s, 10 most popular drama serials, or 10 most popular fashion statements. Please note that this is the most difficult type of article to write on Mashhur.com, primarily because it has to be done after a fair bit of research and knowledge. These are not subjective lists or personal opinions, but the objective point of view, usually reached after talking to a number of people from different segments of the Pakistani society. Before continuing with your write up, you must check with the editors at support@mashhur.com about whether you should go ahead with your article or not.
Category: Interview
Article Length: 300-1000 words
Interviews with people personally involved in the items. For example, the interview may be that of a player in a popular match, an actor in a popular drama or film, or a singer of a popular song.
Generally, for all the types of articles, duplication of already existing information on the site is discouraged. For example, if you would like to give examples of popularity for something, it is generally not a good idea to repeat what has already been said. Please stay as original as possible, so that the readers can enjoy your write ups completely.
If you have something to contribute to an item, but it is less than 300 words, please use the item’s discussion forum.
